AliasSmith launched in 2006, in collaboration with the Tequila Regulatory Council (Consejo Regulador del Tequila, CRT) the Tequila Maestro Diploma. Since then has awarded the diploma to 55 professionals that have completed the training and passed the test. The diploma has been granted by the Mexican Ambassador at different events.
Tequila is Mexico’s biggest export product with the denomination of origin, for which we all are proud, but it is not the only one. Mezcal Raicilla, Sotol, and Bacanora are spirits made from Agave that also have a denomination of origin, and there are a few other emerging collective brands and initiatives.
Due to this, AliasSmith has created the Agave Ambassador diploma which is awarded to experts who have pursued deeper training covering all the spirits made from agave with the appellation of origin as well as all the other Mexican spirits worth exploring.
An Agave Ambassador has studied for three months, visited at least 15 distilleries, and worked in the industry.
The first Agave Ambassadors are being trained right now.
